Before Sharpsburg

He was appointed Lieutenant, Company I, 11th Mississippi Infantry on 20 February 1861, and made Adjutant of the Regiment on 21 April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was assigned to the staff of General Davis as acting Assistant Adjutant General from June - August 1863, and wounded in action at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863. He was promoted to Captain on 25 August 1863, but killed in action in the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864. He was buried on the farm of James Clark, 9 miles from Orange Court House, VA, now unmarked.
