Before Sharpsburg

Son of a wealthy planter in Yazoo County, he enlisted 27 April 1861 as Sergeant, Company B, 18th Mississippi Infantry. He was appointed Captain on 26 April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded through the lungs in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.

The rest of the War

He was recuperating on furlough into the Spring of 1863. He was again wounded, in action at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863. He was on furlough again, in South Carolina, but died of his wounds 18 March 1864.
