Before Antietam

From Janesville, he enlisted in Company E, 5th Wisconsin Infantry on 13 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in Maryand but died of disease at a hospital in Hagerstown, MD on 29 or 30 October 1862.

The rest of the War

He was initially buried in a plot near the Alms House in Hagerstown. He was reinterred at the new Antietam National Cemetery in 1866-67.
