From Washington, VT, he enlisted on 5 September and mustered as Private, Company B, 4th Vermont Infantry on 21 September 1861.
On the Campaign
He was with his Company in Maryland but died of disease at a hospital in Hagerstown, MD on 1 November 1862.
The rest of the War
He was initially buried in a plot near the Alms House in Hagerstown.
