Before Antietam
Age 21, from Schuykill County, he enlisted 30 August at Pottsville, and mustered as Private in Company D, 96th Pennsylvania Infantry on 23 September 1861.
On the Campaign
He was with his Company in Maryland but died, probably of disease, at a hospital in Hagerstown, MD on 10 November 1862.
The rest of the War
He was initially buried in a plot near the Alms House in Hagerstown.
