Age 22, he enlisted 6 August at Buffalo, and mustered as Private in Company E, 49th New York Infantry on 28 August 1861.
On the Campaign
He was with his Company in Maryland but died of disease at a hospital in Hagerstown, MD on 11 November 1862.
The rest of the War
He was initially buried in a plot near the Alms House in Hagerstown.
