Before Antietam

A 23 year old blacksmith from Butler County, he enlisted 7 August 1862 and mustered as Private, Company D, 137th Pennsylvania Infantry on 23 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in Maryland but died of disease at a hospital in Hagerstown, MD on 12 November 1862.

After the War

He was initially buried in a plot near the Alms House in Hagerstown, but was reinterred at the new Antietam National Cemetery in 1866-67.
