Before Antietam
He enlisted 7 November 1861 as a Private in Battery B, 1st Maryland Light Artillery.
On the Campaign
He was with his Battery in Maryland but he died at a hospital in Hagerstown, MD on 8 December 1862.
After the War
He was initially buried in a plot near the Alms House in Hagerstown, but was reinterred at the new Antietam National Cemetery in 1866-67.
