He was listed as a 16 year old farmer in Dale County, AL in the 1850 Census, and as having been born in Georgia. He enlisted in Company M, 1st Texas Infantry and was appointed Sergeant as or before the Company was mustered into Confederate service on 5 May 1862 at Sumter, Texas.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
