Before Antietam
An 18 year old shoemaker from Groveland, he enlisted 26 July 1861 in Company A, 19th Massachusetts Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was severely wounded in the chest in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was discharged for wounds at Philadelphia, PA on 9 December 1862.
After the War
He was a charter member, and by 1870, the Quartermaster of GAR Post 101, Groveland. He died relatively young at not quite 36 years.
