On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the left leg, with fracture of the femur, in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at the Hoffman Farm Hospital, then at the Smoketown Hospital, where he died of wounds on 5 October 1862.
