A 21 year old shoemaker from Georgetown, he enlisted 17 August 1861 in Company C, 19th Massachusetts Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was reported missing in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He reenlisted 20 December 1863 at Stevensburg, VA, was appointed Hospital Steward 1 March 1865, and mustered out with his Company on 30 June 1865.
