Before Antietam
A 34 year old farmer from Haverhill, he enlisted in Company D, 19th Massachusetts Infantry on 13 February 1862.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was released and returned to his Company in April 1863. He reenlisted 20 December 1863 and mustered out on 30 June 1865.
After the War
He was a grocer in Boston before his death in 1905.
