Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Company M, First Texas Infantry when they organized in Trinity County, and mustered for Confederate service as Private on 5 May 1862 at Sumpter, TX.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the side in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was commissioned 3rd Lieutenant in October 1862 and promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 4 February 1863. He was discharged for deafness on 26 May 1863.
