Before Antietam
A 23 year old gas fitter in Cambridge, he enlisted in Company G, 19th Massachusetts Infantry on 19 August 1861. He was reported missing, and was probably captured in action at Glendale, VA on 30 June 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the thigh in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was discharged for wounds on 3 March 1863 at Boston.
