He enlisted in Company M, First Texas Infantry when they organized in Trinity County, and mustered for Confederate service as Private on 5 May 1862 at Sumpter, TX.

On the Campaign

He was severely wounded in the thigh in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded again, in the head at White Oak Swamp (?), VA on 16 August 1864.

Service information from Davis,1 as A. Walters, and Simpson.2 He was Jewish, the wound to his head caused deafness, and he died in Liberty, TX, according to Sgt. D.H. Hamilton in his History of Company M (1925). His gravesite is on Findagrave.
