Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Gonzales County as a Private in Company A, 4th Texas Infantry on 18 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was 5th Sergeant when he was wounded by a gunshot to his right knee at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863, and was captured there. He was treated at the US field hospital on the Plank Farm at Gettysburg, then sent to the DeCamp Hospital in New York Harbor on 21 July. He was paroled and returned South for exchange by December 8163 and was absent in hospitals in Richmond and Liberty, VA or on furlough into May 1864. By June 1864 he was listed as permanently disabled with no later military record.
