Age 28, he enlisted in Buffalo to serve three years, and mustered in as Private, Company K, 69th New York Infantry on 20 December 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded the right foot in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was treated at a hospital in Frederick, MD and was discharged for disability there on 16 January 1863.
