On the Campaign

He was wounded in the left leg and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at a hospital in Frederick, MD and his leg was amputated. On 5 December 1862 he was transferred to Baltimore, MD. He was discharged for wounds on 31 January 1865 (1863?).
