A 20 year old farmer from North Salem, he enlisted as Private, Company A, 27th Indiana Infantry 12 September 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the right foot in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at a hospital in Frederick, MD from 29-30 September, then sent on to one in Philadelphia, PA. He was killed in action at Resaca, GA on 15 May 1864.
