An 18 year old clerk from Medford, MA. he enlisted as Private on 29 June and mustered into Company C, 13th Massachusetts Infantry on 16 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Corporal on 1 April 1863, and to Sergeant on the field at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863. He mustered out on 1 August 1864 with his Company in Boston, MA.
