He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Corporal on 30 March 1863. He was injured while moving logs for fortifications near Atlanta, GA on 20 August 1864 and mustered out with his Company on 1 September 1864 at Indianapolis, IN.
