He was with his Company in Maryland.

The rest of the War

He was arrested in October and courtmartialed on 9 October 1862 for cowardice at Antietam. He was drummed out of the service at Stafford Court House, VA on 4 February 1863, his head shaved and an India ink "C" inscribed on his right hip.
