He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He returned to the Battery in February 1863 and reenlisted on 15 February 1864. He transferred to Battery B on 12 August 1864 and mustered out with them on 12 June 1865.

After the War

He was a Justice of the Peace in Dummerston, VT in 1912.
