Before Sharpsburg
A 19 year old from Augusta County, he mustered as Private, Company A, 52nd Virginia Infantry on 9 July 1861. He was absent, sick in March and April 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was exchanged in October 1862, treated at a hospital in Richmond, VA, and returned to duty on 5 November 1862 but granted a 30 day furlough. No further record, presumed to have deserted in November 1862.
