Before Sharpsburg
A 29 year old farmer in Augusta County, he mustered as Private, Company I, 52nd Virginia Infantry on 15 July 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the foot in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was captured in action at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 12 May 1864 and held at Fort Delaware by June. He was released 21 June 1865.
After the War
He lived in Rockbridge County.
