Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted at Camp Clark in Guadalupe County as a Private in Company B, 4th Texas Infantry on 11 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded in the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864 and returned to duty on 28 June. He was captured on 29 September 1864 near Ft. Harrison/Chaffin's Farm near Petersburg, VA and initially held at Bermuda Hundred, VA then sent to City Point. He was transferred to Point Lookout, MD on 5 October and was released 13 May 1865 after taking an oath of allegiance. He gave his residence as Nashville, TN and was provided transportation there.
