Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted at Camp Clark in Guadalupe County as a Private in Company B, 4th Texas Infantry on 11 July 1861. He was slightly wounded in the leg at Cold Harbor, VA on 27 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in hospitals in Richmond, VA then on furlough, and rejoined his Company on 11 December 1862. He was listed as absent without leave at Hallettsville, TX after 1 November 1863, with no military record after August 1864.

He married Anna Elizabeth Mildred Rhode (later Barnett, 1845-1915) in December 1863 in Lavaca County. They had 3 children.
