A 26 year old farmer, he mustered as Private in Company E, 28th Virginia Infantry on 20 May 1861 Botetourt, VA. He was ill in Charlottesville in July 1861 and returned to duty in December 1861.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
