Before Sharpsburg
A 21 year old laborer, he enlisted as Private in Company A, 28th Virginia Infantry on 15 May 1861 in Botetourt, VA. He was ill in hospital in October 1861 and returned to duty in April 1862.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Boonsboro (Turner's Gap on South Mountain), MD on 14 September 1862.
