Before Sharpsburg
A 22 year old farmer, he mustered as Private in Company A, 28th Virginia Infantry on 15 May 1861. He was captured at Williamsburg, VA on 5 May 1862 and held at Fortress Monroe until exchanged there on 10 August 1862 and returned to duty.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Boonsboro (Turner's Gap on South Mountain), MD on 14 September 1862.
