Before Sharpsburg
He mustered as Private, Company K, 42nd Virginia Infantry on 17 June 1861 in Rocky Mount, VA. He was sick in Warm Springs, VA in October 1861 and returned to duty in December. He was detailed as a teamster February - April 1862.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
