Before Sharpsburg
A 24 year old laborer in Traveler's Repose, Pocahontas County, (now WV) he mustered as Private, Company D, 9th Virginia Infantry Battalion on 18 May 1861 in Hunterville. On 1 May 1862 he transferred to Company I, 25th Virginia Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
