Before Sharpsburg
A wheelwright's son, in 1860 he was a 30 year old farm manager at Negro-Foot in Hanover County, VA. He had service in the 74th Virginia Militia, then mustered as a Private in the Morris Louisa Light Artillery on 31 March 1862 at Fredericksburg.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
His widow Mary filed for his final pay of $43.80 in April 1864.
