Before Sharpsburg
Going by Jefferson, in 1850 he was an 18 year old farmer on his parents' place in Orange County, NC. On 15 July 1862, at age 30, he was conscripted in Durham and mustered as a Private in Company F, First North Carolina Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
