Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 15 (18?) year old day laborer living with 2 sisters on his widowed mother's farm in Northampton County, NC. Giving his age as 19, he enlisted at Murfreesboro on 15 June 1861 and mustered as Private, Company F, First North Carolina Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and died the next day.

The rest of the War

His mother Priscilla filed for his final pay of $113.50 in March 1863.
