Before Sharpsburg

A 30 year old farmer in Sampson County, he was commissioned 3rd LIeutenant, Company H, 20th North Carolina Infantry on 10 May 1861 in Sampson County. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 8 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the shoulder and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at a US Army hospital near Sharpsburg, paroled 20 September and exchanged 10 November 1862, places not given. He die of wounds, date not known.
