Before Sharpsburg
He was elected Constable for the Cedar Creek District, Cumberland County, NC in February 1856. On 1 June 1861, then age 39 he mustered as Private, Company F, 24th North Carolina Infantry in Cumberland County.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
