Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 22 year old rail road worker living in Butler, Taylor County, GA. He enlisted as Private, Company F, 27th Georgia Infantry on 9 September 1861 at Camp Stephens near Griffin, GA. He was in a hospital at Danville, VA with pneumonia in January 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds at Sedgwick's Division field hospital on the Simon Wyand farm near Keedysville, MD on 19 September 1862.

His widow Missouri filed for his final pay in January 1863.
