In 1860 he was an 18 year old living with his parents and siblings on their small family farm in Hall County, GA. He mustered as a Private in Company D, 27th Georgia Infantry on 24 February 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action ad captured at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at the Federal 6th Army Corps hospital on the Michael Miller farm at Sharpsburg, but died there of wounds, date not given.
