From Cherokee County, he enlisted in August and mustered as Private, Company D, 28th Georgia Infantry on 3 September 1861. He was elected and commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 9 June 1862 and promoted to First Lieutenant on 10 (or 19) July.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
