Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 16 year old living with his parents, 2 sisters, and 6 slaves on their farm at Sandersville in Washington County, GA. Giving his age as 19, he enlisted there on 25 September 1861 and mustered as 4th Corporal of Company H, 28th Georgia Infantry. He was promoted to First Sergeant on 11 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His father Seaborn filed a claim for his final pay of $169.66 in January 1863. It was probably paid in January 1864.
