Before Sharpsburg
Age 18, he mustered as Private, Company A, 3rd Virginia Cavalry on 14 May 1861 in Boydton, VA. He was detailed as courier to Lieutenant Colonel Goode in January 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the leg by a piece of artillery shell, and his horse was killed.
The rest of the War
He was promoted to Sergeant in July 1863. He died on 3 July 1865, place and cause not given.
