Before Sharpsburg
22 years old, he enlisted at Camp Clark in Guadalupe County, TX as a Private in Company D, 4th Texas Infantry on 4 July 1861.
On the Campaign
He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was at hospitals in Richmond, VA then on furlough in Texas from 6 October 1862 to 11 March 1863. There is no military record later than June 1863. He was killed in action at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863.
