Before Sharpsburg

Age 19, he enlisted at Camp Clark in Guadalupe County as a Private in Company D, 4th Texas Infantry on 4 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September, but not at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded by a gunshot to his left hip and side in the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864 and was absent, recovering to at least August, when he applied for a transfer to the cavalry for medical reasons from the CSA General Hospital in Staunton, VA.

On 28 September he was transferred to Company A, 8th Texas Cavalry (Terry's Texas Rangers) with the the Army of Tennessee, with no later military record.
