Before Sharpsburg

An 18 year old student at Mount Lebanon University in Bienville Parish, he enlisted as Sergeant, Company C, 9th Louisiana Infantry on 8 March 1862 at Mt Lebanon.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in the hospital in November and December 1862 and home on furlough to February 1863. He returned to duty and served for the duration. He was paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.

After the War

He completed medical school in 1869 and was a physician in Bellevue, Bossier Parish, LA to 1892 then in Gibsland until 1894 when he moved to Shreveport.
