He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

References & notes

His service from the NY Adjutant General.1 It is likely that the (other) Ferdinand Turnt, age 60, who was Chaplain of the 103rd in 1863, was his father and Captain Frederick Turnt, also of Company H, was his brother.
