A 25 year old tinner in New Orleans, he enlisted 7 June 1861 at Camp Moore, LA as 3rd Sergeant of Company E, 7th Louisiana Infantry. He was elected Junior 2nd Lieutenant on 22 January 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
