He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

He may be the William Redus (1835, AL - 1885, TX) of Medina County, TX, who served there in 1864-65 as a Lieutenant in a local defense company and was a successful cattle rancher after the war.
