A 25 year old farmer in St. Landry Parish, he enlisted as Private, Company E, 10th Louisiana Infantry on 22 July 1861 at Camp Moore, LA.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.

The rest of the War

He was paroled Fort McHenry, MD on 6 November and exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA on 10 November 1862. He was killed in action at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863.
